Amateurs

I am not a published writer. Not yet. But I still think it’s worthwhile to start a conversation about writing. We don’t need to be professionals to share what works for us, and that’s what I intend to do.

I’ve been writing all of my life, but I began writing seriously (as in: with the intent to make a career of it, as opposed to doing it solely for fun) about 6 years ago. In that time, I have completed three novels. Some methods worked for me, while others were complete failures, but my biggest success has been simply…finishing something. How many of you want to write a book, start with the best of intentions, and then set it aside out of frustration only to never return? That was me, too, once.

It was a difficult hurdle to jump. And once I did it, I started getting questions from friends who secretly harbored the desire to do what I had done. So, this blog is me putting the answers to those questions all in one place, for anyone to see.

These are not things you SHOULD do. But these are the things that work for me. Try them out. If you like them, they’re yours. If not, throw them away and try something else.

As I said above, I am not published. We are on this road together. We are amateurs. We are struggling to realize this crazy dream of ours. But we don’t have to do it alone.
